ON HIRE/OFF HIRE BUNKER SURVEYS IN QUEENSLAND
On Hire and Off Hire Condition surveys are important for understanding a vessels condition before and after the Hire period. The Bunker survey can also be included at the time of the On Hire / Off Hire Survey to confirm fuel onboard and or report on Fuel shortages. If there is an unaccountable gain in Bunker fuel, or Bunker volumes cannot be reconciled with Bunker consumption during the voyage, Letter of Protests are issued and a further investigation may be necessary.
Before Renting
On Hire Survey
An on-hire condition survey is carried out prior to a vessel going on hire. This survey determines the pre-hire condition of the vessel.
After Renting
Off Hire Survey
An off-hire survey is carried out when the vessel comes off hire. It determines the post-hire condition of the vessel. It checks for any damage or changes to the vessel.
Fuel Check
Bunker Survey
A bunker survey is carried out to determine the quantity of fuels onboard either at the beginning and/or end of the hire period.

Cargo and Holds
Pre-Loading Condition
These surveys are carried out to ensure the ships holds are in a suitable condition to carry the intended cargoes.
QUEENSLAND SHIP SURVEYORS
Cargo Hold Condition & Damage Surveys
Cargo hold Condition or Damage
Prior to loading cargoes into a ship’ cargo holds, it is often a requirement of the ship owner or charterer that the holds are surveyed in order to ensure their condition is suitable for the intended cargo.
Examples of items surveyed are for cross-contamination of grains from the previous cargo or potential contamination by rust, scale, or flaking paint.
Cargo liquifaction is also a major issue that ship owners and charterers must be aware of.

AMSA COMMERCIAL SURVEYS
As an AMSA-accredited marine surveyor, Queensland Ship Surveyors ensures compliance for your domestic commercial vessel (DCV).
CONDITION & VALUATION SURVEYS
Typically conducted for insurance or financing purposes in order to assess the fair market value. These surveys are performed when the vessel is either afloat or in dry dock.
CARGO LASHING & TOW OUT SURVEYS
Cargo lashing secures freight to prevent movement or loosening during transport, especially in rough seas, protecting both crew and cargo. QSS inspects and assesses cargo safety to ensure compliance with marine standards.
INSURANCE CLAIMS
If your vessel sustains damage at sea or in dry dock, a marine insurance claim survey is needed to determine the cause, nature, and extent of the damage. Queensland Ship Surveyors provides thorough inspections for hull, machinery, cargo equipment, and overall vessel damage.
on/off hire bunker cargo & hold
On-hire and off-hire surveys provide an independent survey of a vessels condition at the start and end of a charter. These assessments help determine any damage incurred during the charter period by comparing the vessel's condition before and after hire.
